Lauded by Oscar-winning composer Tan Dun as "a rising young star with a remarkable gift" for their collaboration on the Zen Shaolin Project, jazz singer and composer Zhang Le leads the wave of Chinese artists who bring the power of traditional Chinese musical arts to the home of jazz. Zhang won the Sir Roland Hanna Memorial Awards for jazz performance in NYC and is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music. Her album “ The Classics” with Shanghai Restoration Project entered the top 10 iTunes US electronic charts in 2014. It was featured on both NPR's All Things Considered and Last Call with Carson Daly. Zhang Le embarked on a multi-city tour of China and performed at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival and the Toronto's Harbourfront Centre.  Her recent work includes "Life Elsewhere” with Shanghai Restoration Project, original solo album "Unfinished Tango” coproduced by pianist Jason Yeager, and duo project “Something Old, Something New” with guitarist Zhang Xiongguan.
